March Madness
The cardigan is a Rosabode design. If you have never been to Rose's shop on NE Fremont and 42nd, you have no idea what you are missing out on. It is the most cuddly and adorable shop you will ever walk in to. And you can find super adorable clothes there now, too! Along with me sewing along in the back room:)
I may not have been the creative force behind this cardigan but I did develop the pattern and sew it. So, I'm counting it! And the dress is so simple its kind of ridiculous. But, then again, it is so simple and comfortable I'll probably wear it everyday. It perfect for layer and pretty much feels like you are wearing nothing at all. Sometimes all you need is black jersey knit.

Recycle, reduce, REUSE!
February garment done! And just under a week late. But, whatever, this is my blog and I don't really like rushing anything. In the spirit of reusing, this dress came about from an old curtain.
I figured since it is a grandma curtain, that it had to become a sexy dress (or as sexy as it could be) Its a little frilly, a little hippy, a little cowgirl, all rolled into one. Pretty impressive.

Is that a curtain you're wearing? why, yes it is
After a quick wash, I started playing around with the various pieces and here I'm at.
Thinking very low back with some crossing straps. Still thinking of whether to leave the ruffles down the butt. It might be needed for the proper ridiculousness.

Hallie Jacket for sale on etsy
Still brainstorming on what to make for February. Maybe some valentines day lingerie. Meh, who am I kidding, I don't need that. Perhaps a fun dress. We will all just have to wait and see!

January happenings-Leather jacket!
I learned a very important lesson: always check to see if the shaft of your snap is going to be longer than the thickness of your seem. Fun times. The epaulets are just sew down. Snap failure.
Here's another more picture from my fun self timer photoshoot! Jacket worn with the Kelly dress. Top photo worn with the Alice dress, and middle photo with a Forever 21 dress.

What I'm working on
I will be making a new item, outside of my self-labeled collection, each month. January: cropped motor cycle jacket for myself.
I’m still working on it, but I keep running out of thread. This heavy duty top stitching thread I’ve been using to sew it is really screwing with my head. I am not used to these tiny spools. I seriously used an entire spool on the sleeves. When I continue, I’ll be on spool four. I must make it to fabric depot this weekend.
I can’t wait to have this jacket finished. I had been wanting a black leather jacket for months but didn’t have an extra $500 in my pocket. Then I had the crazy idea: why don’t I just make one. It has been an interesting experience since I’ve never made a garment out of leather before. But, I’m slowly learning. And I think it is turning into a jacket!

furry hats-LOVE
I am completely obsessed with furry hats right now (actually just cute hats--I'm wearing my koala hat at the moment, even though my apartment is like 80 degrees). I first encountered one a few weeks ago. I saw a green faux fur crumple at Rosabode and was like, "what the?". Then I picked it up and saw the ears, and giggled. When i put it on, I refused to take it off for hours. I fell in love. I felt like a Muppet...a very fashionable Muppet. These adorable head warmers will soon be available at Rosabode in Portland, but until then, check out Miss Karina's etsy shop.
KOALA!! If only I could eat eucalyptus. Sideways and Up has soooooooooooooo many cute and outrageous animal hats. New adds: owl and dragon! Winter is only moments away, and with these hats, I'm never going to be cold!
